Thurs/Friday 16/17th July
Richard frequently submits a large collection photos of which a few are selected for display.
This time we display the whole collection - the days as seen by Richard
On Thursday the per way team were doing a clear-up operation. Two wagon loads of logs were scooped up on the way north. Near Shottle we stopped to load rejected sleepers that had the good bits cut out and were now suitable for a narrow gauge line. These sleepers are destined for our neighbours at the Steeple Grange railway
At Shottle the train had the three Dogfish wagons added to the consist to form an impressive train on arrival at Wirksworth
The tank wagon was having undercoat applied. The wagon will be having a new lease of life as a reserve water supply for future steam operations
On Friday, it was a shunting and house keeping day. The works train brake van is used as a 'messing facility' when the per way team need a cup of tea while working in the wilds of the Ecclesbourne Valley. To be honest it was literally getting in a mess inside and out, so a spring clean was undertaken. The 'veranda' on the brake van has accumulated assorted rusty rail bits over the years, this was emptied, the scrap sorted, and swept and dusted
The tool van was also given a good sort out too
With the bulk of the shunting loco fleet not being well, the bubble car was pressed into service, giving rise to some unusual sights. The Sturgeon is propelled into the car park
No. 3 is moved to a new location. Mixed traction?....
Anton was also busy doing things at his own convenience. Some decking is laid for the relief of visitors

A truly mixed train. The tank wagon is propelled to Wash Green, which seems an appropriate location, where a team are waiting to give it a good internal flushing out.......
