Friday 4th June - A very hot day - Photos & Comments: Richard
The new track layout at Duffield is enabling manoeuvres to take place that have not been possible for at least 20 years. In hot sunshine, locomotives are swapped over on the works train. It is a while since we last saw two locos in the station together. While returning north with 'Tommy' he was feeling the heat and started to emulate Ferrybridge No.3 with steam hissing out of the radiator. We limped into Shottle station where the kind folks at Peak Oil provided a hose pipe and a bucket and Tommy's thirst was quenched.... Hylton gets his legs cooled at the same time
